As part of our ongoing effort to streamline editorial workflows and enhance SEO value, we’ve extended the capabilities of the Quick Internal Linking feature to include support for Tags and Categories.

This enhancement enables editorial teams to link to tag or category landing pages with the same ease as individual articles — directly from within the editor.

What's New?

The Quick Internal Linking tool now intelligently surfaces results not just from individual content pieces but also from:

  • Tags (e.g., IPL 2025, Supreme Court of India)

  • Categories (e.g., Cricket, Crime)

Users can start typing in the search field and instantly see matching tags and categories, making it simple to hyperlink to those pages without leaving the editor interface.

Accessing Quick Internal Linking

Step 1: Login to Dashboard

Step 2: Open the Editor in the Dashboard -> go to Create/Edit page -> navigate to the Toolbar

Step 3: In the toolbar, click extended menu ->click Quick Internal Link opens the modal to start searching.

Step 4: Within the modal, you can find Tags and Categories located beneath the list of articles.

Note: The number of tags, categories, and articles displayed can be adjusted upon request by the publishers and will be managed by the backend team.

Step 5: Currently, search for tags and categories supports both name and slug

Enter a keyword, keyphrase, or word and press Enter. The tool suggests the relevant 3 categories and tags that match the search term, each with clickable URLs for easy access.

You can also select a keyword within the post and click the Quick Internal Link tool, which automatically uses that keyword as the search term to generate related categories, tags, and posts.

Step 6: Click the relevant category or tags based on the requirement, and it automatically gets added to the cursor point in the editor with a hyperlink to the category

Use Cases

  • Enrich news coverage by linking to a tag page like “Lok Sabha Elections 2024” within political articles.

  • Guide readers from a crime news article to the overarching “Crime” category for related updates.

  • Build topical depth by linking trending stories to their parent category or campaign tag pages.

Best Practices for Using Quick Internal Linking

  • Link Naturally Within Context: Avoid overstuffing. Use internal links only where they add real value for the reader.

  • Prioritize Evergreen Tags & Categories: Link to content hubs that have ongoing relevance and regularly updated content.

  • Use Descriptive Anchor Text: Example: “Explore more Supreme Court rulings” instead of “Click here”

  • Balance Article and Taxonomy Links: While linking to individual posts is great, mix in tag/category links to promote structured exploration.

  • Monitor Link Performance: Use analytics to see which internal links drive traffic and tweak strategies accordingly.

Benefits for Digital Publishers

  • Improved Internal SEO: Links to structured tag/category pages help search engines better understand your site hierarchy.

  • Enhanced Content Discovery: Readers stay longer and view more pages when they can explore grouped topics.

  • Operational Efficiency: Editors no longer need to hunt down tag/category URLs, it’s all built-in and context-aware.

  • Reduced Bounce Rates: Smart internal linking can reduce exit points and keep readers engaged.

  • Scalable Strategy: As your content grows, this feature ensures relevance and connectivity stay intact without manual upkeep.
