The Quick Internal Linking feature in the PubLive editor is designed to simplify the process of linking to existing content within your site. It helps content creators quickly find relevant posts by keyword, keyphrase, or URL and insert links without leaving the editing interface. By streamlining internal linking, this feature encourages better content connections, enhances SEO, and improves user experience by guiding readers to more related content.
How it Works
- Quick Search: Start typing a keyword, or keyphrase, or paste a URL (Same domain URLs) into the Quick Internal Linking search bar in the editor.
- Content Match Suggestions: Based on the search input (Keyword/Keyphrase/word), the tool searches in content within the platform. It suggests up to 10 of the most recent posts, complete with URLs as clickable links.
- URL-Based Search: When a URL is entered, the tool locates the exact post if there’s a match.
- Easy Insertion: Select any suggested article link to insert it directly into your draft with one click.

How Quick Internal Links differs from AI Internal Linking
Quick Internal Links offers content creators an efficient way to search and select relevant posts manually by entering keywords, keyphrases, or URLs, allowing for precise, context-aware linking. This control helps creators enhance content depth, keep readers engaged, and optimize SEO through strategic internal links.
On the other hand, AI Internal Links automates this process, scanning each post for keywords and keyphrases and automatically suggesting relevant links. This eliminates the need for manual searching, speeds up workflow, and ensures consistency across posts.
Both these tools provide flexibility and automation, helping publishers balance control and efficiency in content linking.
Best Practices for Using Quick Internal Links
- Choose Keywords Carefully: Use keywords/Keyphrases that best represent the linked content to increase relevance.
- Limit Links Per Article: Avoid overwhelming readers with too many links. Use only the most relevant ones to maintain focus.
- Update Links Periodically: Ensure links remain current by revisiting older posts occasionally.
Benefits for Publishers
-
Boosts SEO Performance: Internal links strengthen site structure by connecting related content, helping search engines understand the context and hierarchy of your site, which can improve rankings.
-
Enhances Reader Engagement and Retention: By linking to relevant content, readers are more likely to explore additional posts, increasing their time on the site and potentially reducing bounce rates.
-
Streamlines Content Creation Workflow: This tool eliminates the need to open multiple tabs or manually search for articles, allowing writers to quickly find and link to existing content without interrupting their creative flow.
-
Increases Content Discoverability: Older but relevant articles gain more visibility through strategic internal linking, allowing publishers to leverage past content and drive traffic to pages that might otherwise be less visited.
-
Promotes Content Consistency: By keeping readers within the same topic or theme via suggested links, publishers can ensure a cohesive reading experience that aligns with their brand voice and message.
-
Reduces Errors in Link Insertion: With direct insertion of URLs as hyperlinks, this feature reduces the risk of broken links, ensuring a seamless experience for readers.
-
Supports Cross-Functional Goals: Internal linking helps with cross-promotion of high-value content within the platform, product pages, or calls to action, supporting various marketing and editorial goals in one unified workflow.
Use Cases
- Related Content Linking: When publishing a new post, quickly link back to prior articles to provide additional context for readers.
- SEO Optimization: Easily add internal links to improve site authority and guide search engines through the content hierarchy.
- Cross-Promotion of Content: Link to popular articles or resources that readers may find valuable.
